BIKE SAFETY
Ride Smart. Ride SAFE. Ride Happy.
Staying safe on two wheels doesn’t have to be boring — in fact, the safer you are, the more fun you’ll have. Whether you’re cruising, commuting through town, or exploring the trails, these safety essentials will help you keep every trip smooth and enjoyable.

Bike Safety Matters
Riding a bike or e-bike gives you freedom, speed, and adventure — but that freedom comes with responsibility. Good safety habits help you:
Avoid accidents and unexpected surprises.
Ride confidently in traffic or crowded areas.
Protect yourself and others.
Get the most out of your bike or e-bike.
Think of safety as part of the experience — like good music on a road trip.
Must-Know Safety Rules

Wear a Helmet (No Exceptions!)
A properly fitted helmet can be the difference between a minor fall and a major injury. Make sure your helmet: Fits snugly, sits level on your head and has the straps adjusted securely. If your helmet is cracked, old, or has taken a hit — it’s time for a new one.
Always Be Visible — Day and Night
Visibility is a must! Use: Front white light, rear red light, reflectors, wear bright or reflective clothing even in daylight. Visibility drastically improves your safety around cars and pedestrians.
Know Your Route
Choose bike-friendly streets, multi-use paths, or designated lanes whenever possible. If you’re riding in Cape Coral or Fort Myers Beach, or any busy area: stick to pathways, avoid high-traffic zones especially during rush hour, and keep an eye out for or uneven terrain. Local knowledge = safer riding.
Follow Traffic Rules (Yes, All of Them)
Bikes and e-bikes must follow the same road rules as cars. That means: Stop at stop signs, obey traffic lights, ride with traffic, not against it and use hand signals for turns and stops. When drivers know what you’re doing, everyone stays safer.
Maintain Your Bike
A well-maintained bike is a safe bike. Your brakes should be strong, responsive, and quiet. Make sure your tires are properly inflated & free of damage. Keep your chain clean and lubricated. Make sure your battery (for e-bikes) is charged, secure, and stored safely.
